When you first open visViewer, all three panels are empty.
You can open a Visio file in one of three ways: 1. Use the File\Open menu to load a Visio document
2. Drag and drop a Visio file from the windows explorer on to the Visio Viewer panel 3. Right mouse click a Visio file in windows explorer and open it with visViewer (You may need to navigate to the installation folder)
In each case, the Visio file is displayed in the Microsoft Visio Viewer panel in the top right corner of visViewer, and the pages are listed in the explorer view on the left side.
The status bar displays the file path, and the last edited date. If the file is edited elsewhere whilst it is in visViewer, then the full-stop (.) between the file path and the date will change to an asterisk (*). You can then refresh the document in visViewer with File / Refresh. You can change the page on display by simply selecting the page node in the explorer view. If you expand the page node, then you will be shown the Layers, and Shapes nodes, with a count of elements within each of them.
